The original carpet mats in my car were starting to get worn and just looked dirty. I'd wanted to get a set of WeatherTech mats after seeing them in a friend's car. I convinced myself they were a worthwhile investment to protect the car, but the sticker shock for them is real. I searched around for other options and couldn't find any in the stores that I really liked. I came across these mats (the MT-190 version) when searching online and, although I really wanted a custom fit, these looked like they could be trimmed pretty close to the original mats. Another plus is that this set came with the trunk mat... that was a necessity as I tend to get oil spills in the trunk of any car I drive no matter how careful I try to be.They showed up in a huge box which was heavier than I thought it would be. This was good because the mats are very thick and feel very durable. I used my original floor mats and a pencil to mark which grooves to cut, though I did leave more material at first as I saw I could get a tighter fit around the gas pedal and sides than the factory mats. I was a little concerned that they'd be hard to trim, but I ended up using a small box cutter knife and cut through the grooved areas fairly easily. I cut back a little more after the test fits and they went right into place. All 4 mats took about 20-30 minutes to get sized and cut. I didn't cut the trunk mat... I'd rather have the extra stuff in there for extra protection on the sides just in case.I was concerned that they'd slide around as the original mats sometime tend to do when they pop off the hooks near the bottom of the seat, but they've stayed in the exact place as when they were installed without moving around at all. I never made holes for the built in hooks, so they're just sitting there and staying put. Maybe it's the weight or the fact that they're a rubbery plastic... either way, I'm very pleased.I saw a lot of reviews complaining about the strong smell of the material. I haven't had any problem with that. Mine have a faint plastic smell when you get them right up to your nose, but I haven't smelled anything unpleasant in the car even when it heats up in the sun.These aren't as nice as WeatherTech mats and take a little work to get fit, but I spent about 1/4 of what I would have for just the interior mats and essentially got the trunk mat for free. I'm very happy with this purchase and have no worries about these mats keeping the carpet safe from spills and rain while making it easier to clean out the car later.
